Kilometres 4 Kids

About the Ride

From October 24-26, 2008, Kilometres for Kids cyclists will challenge themselves in a three day ride in Sydney's North and the Hunter Valley in an attempt to raise over $300,000 for the John Maclean Foundation, which provides financial assistance to young Australians who use wheelchairs.

The “Kilometres for Kids” ride will see our cyclists cover 450 hilly Kilometres in three days as they make their way from Sydney to the Hunter Valley and back throughout some of the best cycling roads in Northern Sydney and the beautiful vineyards of the Hunter. Along the way we will be bringing smiles to the faces of young Australians as we present new wheelchairs and financial assistance to some great young wheelies. Our route looks a little like this.

Each rider participating in the Kilometres for Kids event has made a personal contribution to the charity to cover all costs associated with the ride. This means that all funds raised along the way and through the support of our sponsors goes directly to supporting the many children we support across Australia.

The Kilometres for Kids ride will start with an official rider and sponsor launch at the Urban Hotel in St. Leonards, Sydney on Thursday October 23, 2008. Riders will depart from the official ride start in St.Leonards on Sunday October 21 and finish back at the Urban St. Leonards on the afternoon of Sunday October 26, 2008. In the Hunter Valley our cyclists will be staying at the stunning Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley where they will be able to rest their tired legs and take in the beautiful offerings of the Hunter Valley region.
