Day 7 - Grant Presentation - Tegan Poljanic - Stratford
Posted: 27 October 2007
The presentations of our grants to the children we meet along the way
are without doubt the highlight of the ride for everyone involved.
Today we met with 13 year old Tegan Poljanic who resides in the
Victorian country town of Stratford, about 20 minutes drive North East
of Sale. Tegan is 13 years old and suffers from an undiagnosed syndrome
that is not dissimlar to Cerebral Palsy.
Tegan has difficulty
communicating and has limited use of her limbs. Tegan was introduced to
us through her support service group, Scope, who said a computer and
educational software would make a world of difference to her
intellectual and educational development. We were proud to be able to
supply Tegan and her family with everything that she needed and we are
sure there'll be a myspace of facebook site for Tegan up and running in
no time.
Tegan joined us with her mother Sharon, grandmother
Marie and brother Riley today. Riley, a little younger than Tegan spoke
with incredible love and affection for his big sister and the ride
group was so impressed with him and his family and were so pleased to
be able to support such a worthy recipient. Ross Cochrane from Sydney
conducted today's presentation and spoke of how the ride group has
connected as a group and with the families we meet along the way and
that that connection has helped us to apprciate the lives we have and
that we are in a position to be of help to great young kids like Tegan.
We are conducting thre more presentations before the K4K finishes in Melbourne on Monday.
